As I am still in the middle of the storm regarding my health and later on I will give you a short summary of my present status, I HAVE RECEIVED AN EXTRAORDINARY CALL TO FORGIVE… Yes, for years I have kept a list of people whom I still resent and prayed that I would not resent them… except that it was not enough… But why? My error consisted in wanting to do things right but not out of a generous heart for my brothers and sisters whom I still resented… LOVE was not part of it. It was simply an act of obedience to the commandments without actually converting my heart. How many times we hear that we forgive but it is actually lip service? Or maybe we think that forgiveness is just not to hate your enemy or persecutor, when forgiving means forgetting, and in order to show God our forgiveness and forgetfulness, we must love them… And yes, it is possible because for God all things are possible, and because if we ask God for such grace, well, we will get it… It is as simple as that. Yet, we stop at forgiving but NOT FORGETTING… And one of the reasons to forget is because they do not know what they are doing… God blinded many and the devil tempted the rest, and we, kids of our Father, must forgive and forget and the Holy Spirit can bring such grace into our hearts if we are really interested in becoming free… And I will reveal the power that comes from it as told to me on Sept. 19.
Just a few days ago and in CNN, Piers Morgan was interviewing a very religious well known man whose son recently committed suicide… and I suspect that carrageenan may have been behind his illness of many years… He was treated by the best and still suffered acute episodes of depression and had tried to kill himself before. I felt very guilty because had my book being out, they may have avoided the death of this young man. I thought of writing to this grieving father and yet, he may have taken my counsel as impossible since “the best psychiatrists” had taken care of his son. This young man was able to buy a gun against the law of his State. The father said that he had forgiven the person who had sold the gun to his son and with which he took his life. He clearly stated that he forgave him for himself… for his own soul and not for the gun provider. I bring this story to you because this is exactly where most of us are, and I recognize that I still keep a list of people whom I resent for things they did to me. My most powerful professional persecutors are O.K. I, in fact, think of them with love and care and want the best for them. But there are others who have caused emotional pain with lies and innuendoes since childhood to recent times, and they are not totally forgiven… I think of them and do not hate them but remember what they did to me and feel indifference! Alright, it will be on September 19 that my Mother, during the Rosary, came to tell me many things about what any kind of resentment, especially the one that makes me indifferent towards those, past or present brothers and sisters, who misjudged me big time… But, for now, if you want , you may check up that date and read why my blog is titled with a part of the Our Father!
II. REGARDING MY HEALTH
I am still going through major problems. It is apparent that the infusion of 7 units of blood from 7 human beings did startle my immune system, which was over reactive to begin with. So, now I am allergic to all foods, although I only show a mild reaction to a few of them, which means that I have to eat the same thing over and over. If I do not, the pain in my knees becomes unbearable and I have to take medication for pain (a narcotic since I seem to have become allergic to Tylenol and I cannot take Aleve type of pain killers because of my ulcers). I also need to avoid foods that I react much to them because they will cause inflammation in the stomach (just as it does in the knees) and my ulcers may bleed again. I keep taking the treatment given to me by Dr. D.V., which I will review for you later since it is something that all people must learn about, hoping that soon I may grow out of these extra allergies. So, in general, I am home bound!
III. The state of the world: My brothers and sisters, who are reading this blog, please think of the work of Satan in our days… We who are trying to re-evangelize many have to count the cost and plan accordingly. The brain re-wiring or brainwashing is a scientific truth. I have many times discussed the subject of brain plasticity. We need a power that only God can provide in order to overcome the forces that are re-wiring our brains at all times of the day. And PLEASE TAKE THIS AS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT IDEAS that I will be sharing today… Unfortunately, this blog will end up being long again! In the other hand, I started writing it very early and have prayed over and over regarding the different subjects discussed, and it will be a long blog even if I am against it.
And yes, part of our work is to LOVE AND LOVE AND LOVE, which means that we have to forgive, truly forgive, and not with lip service… and we cannot do it by ourselves. But at least, we must sit down and find where we are: how many people do we resent? THEN AND ONLY THEN, we will pray the Our Father and truly mean it. Just imagine our Dad in heaven listening to our prayer directed to Him as we lie to Him…! Ouch! And on September 19, my Mother brought this subject matter to me to repent, to examine and to offer many Rosaries so that I can pray the Our Father without lying!
I have three examples of what the world says about happiness and violence… and how brainwashing has occurred… They will be a little long but I want to make the point of what truly is in the heads of many of our people who are missing from the pews:
A. FROM AOL News (57, 248 people like this as of Sept. 15, 2013)
“Lucy is part of Generation Y, the generation born between the late 1970s and the mid 1990s. She’s also part of a yuppie culture that makes up a large portion of Gen Y.
“I have a term for yuppies in the Gen Y age group — I call them Gen Y Protagonists & Special Yuppies, or GYPSYs. A GYPSY is a unique brand of yuppie, one who thinks they are the main character of a very special story.
“So Lucy’s enjoying her GYPSY life, and she’s very pleased to be Lucy. Only issue is this one thing: Lucy’s kind of unhappy.
“To get to the bottom of why, we need to define what makes someone happy or unhappy in the first place. It comes down to a simple formula:
Happiness = Reality – Expectations
“It is pretty straightforward – when the reality of someone’s life is better than they had expected, they’re happy. When the reality turns out to be worse than the expectations, they’re unhappy.
“To provide some context, let’s start by bringing Lucy’s parents into the discussion:
“Lucy’s parents were born in the ’50s — they’re Baby Boomers. They were raised by Lucy’s grandparents, members of the G.I. Generation, or "the Greatest Generation," who grew up during the Great Depression and fought in World War II, and were most definitely not GYPSYs.
“Lucy’s Depression Era grandparents were obsessed with economic security and raised her parents to build practical, secure careers. They wanted her parents’ careers to have greener grass than their own, and Lucy’s parents were brought up to envision a prosperous and stable career for themselves. Something like this:
“They were taught that there was nothing stopping them from getting to that lush, green lawn of a career, but that they’d need to put in years of hard work to make it happen. After graduating from being insufferable hippies, Lucy’s parents embarked on their careers. As the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s rolled along, the world entered a time of unprecedented economic prosperity. Lucy’s parents did even better than they expected to. This left them feeling gratified and optimistic.
“With a smoother, more positive life experience than that of their own parents, Lucy’s parents raised Lucy with a sense of optimism and unbounded possibility. And they weren’t alone. Baby Boomers all around the country and world told their Gen Y kids that they could be whatever they wanted to be, instilling the special protagonist identity deep within their psyches.
“This left GYPSYs feeling tremendously hopeful about their careers, to the point where their parents’ goals of a green lawn of secure prosperity didn’t really do it for them. A GYPSY-worthy lawn has flowers.
“This leads to our first fact about GYPSYs:
1) GYPSYs Are Wildly Ambitious
“The GYPSY needs a lot more from a career than a nice green lawn of prosperity and security. The fact is, a green lawn isn’t quite exceptional or unique enough for a GYPSY. Where the Baby Boomers wanted to live The American Dream, GYPSYs want to live Their Own Personal Dream.
“Cal Newport points out that ‘follow your passion’ is a catchphrase that has only gotten going in the last 20 years, a tool that shows how prominently a given phrase appears in English print over any period of time. It shows that the phrase ‘a secure career’ has gone out of style just as the phrase ‘a fulfilling career’ has gotten hot! To be clear, GYPSYs want economic prosperity just like their parents did — they just also want to be fulfilled by their career in a way their parents didn’t think about as much.
“But something else is happening too. While the career goals of Gen Y as a whole have become much more particular and ambitious, Lucy has been given a second message throughout her childhood as well: YOU’RE SPECIAL. This would probably be a good time to bring in our second fact about GYPSYs:
2) GYPSYs Are Delusional
"’Sure,’ Lucy has been taught, ‘everyone will go and get themselves some fulfilling career, but I am unusually wonderful and as such, my career and life path will stand out amongst the crowd.’ So on top of the generation as a whole having the bold goal of a flowery career lawn, each individual GYPSY thinks that he or she is destined for something even better –
“So why is this delusional? Because this is what all GYPSYs think, which defies the definition of special:
“spe-cial | ‘speSHel |
better, greater, or otherwise different from what is usual.
“According to this definition, most people are not special — otherwise ‘special’ wouldn’t mean anything. Even right now, the GYPSYs reading this are thinking, ‘Good point… but I actually am one of the few special ones’ — and this is the problem.
“A second GYPSY delusion comes into play once the GYPSY enters the job market. While Lucy’s parents’ expectation was that many years of hard work would eventually lead to a great career, Lucy considers a great career an obvious given for someone as exceptional as she, and for her it’s just a matter of time and choosing which way to go. Her pre-workforce expectations look something like this:
“Unfortunately, the funny thing about the world is that it turns out to not be that easy of a place, and the weird thing about careers is that they’re actually quite hard. Great careers take years of blood, sweat and tears to build — even the ones with no flowers or unicorns on them — and even the most successful people are rarely doing anything that great in their early or mid-20s.
But GYPSYs aren’t about to just accept that.
“Paul Harvey, a University of New Hampshire professor and GYPSY expert, has researched this, finding that Gen Y has ‘unrealistic expectations and a strong resistance toward accepting negative feedback,’ and ‘an inflated view of oneself.’ He says that ‘a great source of frustration for people with a strong sense of entitlement is unmet expectations. They often feel entitled to a level of respect and rewards that aren’t in line with their actual ability and effort levels, and so they might not get the level of respect and rewards they are expecting.’
“For those hiring members of Gen Y, Harvey suggests asking the interview question, ‘Do you feel you are generally superior to your coworkers/classmates/etc., and if so, why?’ He says that ‘if the candidate answers yes to the first part but struggles with the -why,- there may be an entitlement issue. This is because entitlement perceptions are often based on an unfounded sense of superiority and deservingness. They’ve been led to believe, perhaps through overzealous self-esteem building exercises in their youth, that they are somehow special but often lack any real justification for this belief.’
“And since the real world has the nerve to consider merit a factor, a few years out of college Lucy finds herself here:
“Lucy’s extreme ambition, coupled with the arrogance that comes along with being a bit deluded about one’s own self-worth, has left her with huge expectations for even the early years out of college. And her reality pales in comparison to those expectations, leaving her "reality – expectations" happy score coming out at a negative.
“And it gets even worse. On top of all this, GYPSYs have an extra problem that applies to their whole generation:
3) GYPSYs Are Taunted
“Sure, some people from Lucy’s parents’ high school or college classes ended up more successful than her parents did. And while they may have heard about some of it from time to time through the grapevine, for the most part they didn’t really know what was going on in too many other peoples’ careers.
Lucy, on the other hand, finds herself constantly taunted by a modern phenomenon: Facebook Image Crafting. Social media creates a world for Lucy where A) what everyone else is doing is very out in the open, B) most people present an inflated version of their own existence, and C) the people who chime in the most about their careers are usually those whose careers (or relationships) are going the best, while struggling people tend not to broadcast their situation. This leaves Lucy feeling, incorrectly, like everyone else is doing really well, only adding to her misery:
“So that’s why Lucy is unhappy, or at the least, feeling a bit frustrated and inadequate. In fact, she’s probably started off her career perfectly well, but to her, it feels very disappointing.
“Here’s my advice for Lucy (something that Satan could also advice):
“1) Stay wildly ambitious. The current world is bubbling with opportunity for an ambitious person to find flowery, fulfilling success. The specific direction may be unclear, but it’ll work itself out — just dive in somewhere.
“2) Stop thinking that you’re special. The fact is, right now, you’re not special. You’re another completely inexperienced young person who doesn’t have all that much to offer yet. You can become special by working really hard for a long time. (Ouch)
“3) Ignore everyone else. Other people’s grass seeming greener is no new concept, but in today’s image crafting world, other people’s grass looks like a glorious meadow. The truth is that everyone else is just as indecisive, self-doubting, and frustrated as you are, and if you just do your thing, you’ll never have any reason to envy others.
(End of report)
AS YOU CAN SEE and very clearly, I bumped into a beautiful example of how the brains of the youth, the old and in between, are brainwashed starting with what their parents thought and passed on… So, Lucy ended up with ambition and “me, myself and I” syndrome (all against the truth about discipleship) which is the wisdom of the world for Lucy… and of course, she is special… created in the image of God, but for this world, this truth does not make us special. Notice the ambition that Lucy shows… We find this trait in a majority of human beings including in some priests and nuns and many of us laity. It is a product of the world working in our brains but we fail to realize that we are ambitious. We have been wired to feel so and our personal efforts to recognize our faults and repent and change have not been adequate, and maybe because we have not talked enough about it!
I want to digress here a little and tell you about my ambition: NONE… Believe it or not. Somehow, I never wanted to be anybody special… or to be the best in my studies or job or as a mother or wife. AND GOD IS WATCHING ME WRITING THIS CONFESSION. I suspect that my encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist at so early age, plus having an adoring grandmother who made me the center of her life, a great Marian woman and lover of God, did work wonders. Then, whatever I did, I succeeded. So, it was not my family or my personal job on the matter but God Who was behind this part of my life on this earth. I made so much money and had mansions for residences and I gave it all up because I never could truly become in love with luxury and money and power and success. I am sure that God had a plan and that my Mother in heaven was behind the plan… So, I can tell you that ambition was never around. Pride was also gone… I have commented to my son here at home how my success in my studies and professionally never made me proud. At all times I had this distinct awareness that God was behind everything. AND AGAIN, GOD IS PRESENT AS I WRITE THIS… So, ambition has to go hand in hand with our personal relationship with our God… and in my case given to me early in life. The more we know Him but not as a name or serving Him, but as a friend Who is crazy about us, that produces the graces necessary to be terribly persecuted and at the same time, terribly blessed. I imagine that my experience was given to me in order to share as an example of what He can do if we leave everything behind, and seek Him day and night with all our hearts, minds a souls.
And yes, the new evangelization has to do with this evil caricature of our present times represented by the story of Lucy… and we have to act in a way that all the Lucy’s of the world can suddenly stop and say, “Wow, I am special and Jesus died for me… Therefore, my only ambition should be to become His disciple and He will take care of the rest.” TRUST IN JESUS and I mean real trust, or a radical faith without fear, produces an earthquake up in the Heart of Jesus and His Mercy simply takes over, and we see many personal sinful occasions disappear… At the time, we have no idea that it is happening. It is after the fact and in our old years when we realize that we were part of a huge miracle of Love on His part… because He is soo alive and soo merciful… I tell Him several times a day: “I do not know what to do with You. You are too much!” Here I am, still struggling with illness after a huge insult to my body and I have not received the Eucharist… since Aug. 24… when I left hospital No. 2. I am sure that Satan is delighted, but as I always he lost the battle before it even started because peace and joy are excessive despite my bad health, which tells me that He wants me to know that He never left me… And that is why I tell Him often, “You are too much!” Of course, I believe in Him more today than even yesterday and without attending Mass in a long time…
In Lucy’s story we did not see any flagrant violence. Of course, violence was present by the messages she received from her older generations and by the media, etc., but real violence is our worse cancer today. And may I say that if you look into it, RESENTMENT, LACK OF FORGIVENESS united in some cases to poorly treated mental illness, is the force behind the flagrant violence we have seen in recent times. And yes, on Monday, September 16, 2013 this was printed: “One shooter is dead after opening fire Monday morning at the Washington Navy Yard, and Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier announced Monday night. Thirteen people were killed, including the shooter.
And now we have another act of violence in a park… in Chicago and one in Kenya. AND ALL ALONG, WE, the ones who are in love with Jesus could change this violence. This topic will be discussed in my Conclusion segment.
On Sunday, September 22, I could not go to Mass… With my allergies to everything I eat, my knees need narcotics and my bladder becomes super active as the kidneys are flooded with chemicals coming from my immune system reacting to everything that hits my stomach. It would become a nightmare to even take the narcotic Vicodin to make it to Mass, since I also became allergic to this medication… So, for two hours or so after I take it, I have to go to the bathroom constantly and I may have to get up in the middle of the Mass to go to the bathroom… Therefore, I got up early (1 AM) to at least be present LIVE at the Mass in the Shrine of Our Lady of Bonaria in Cagliari (Island of Sardinia) in honor of my Mother. Then I got up at 5 AM to be present LIVE at the EWTN Mass, this in order to be able attend Mass even so far from where I live.
I then tuned the local news where they were talking about the latest video game. The very latest is titled “Great Theft Auto” and since September 20, they had sold 1 billion dollars worth of this game. Ah, but it is only for adults since the violence is horrific and no one, age 17 or less should watch it… The representative of the company maker of these videos said that it was up to the parents to supervise their kids!!! This young representative was asked if these videos were watched for many hours at the time, and he said, “O yes, they are made to keep the viewer very entertained.” AND YES, THE VERY PLASTIC BRAINS of the young are seeded with violence for hours at the time.
C. We have lost our minds and truly have become crazy… Lines are being made for hours in all parts of the world to buy on Sept. 20, the newest I-Phone 5… They have two versions: the cheap one and the very expensive one. When they interviewed the many who for hours were in line to be able to get this gadget, I felt that I was watching a psychiatric ward.
Now I have a question for you my reader: What do you think we should do about the above three topics…? What is our responsibility? I will share my ideas on the subject matter at the end of this blog…
IV. More about discipleship: Prior to the posting of my last blog on Sept. 3, this is what I had received in August but was not posted because of the length of the August blog. It will contain some points important for the title content of the present message and will also complete some ideas on becoming a discipleship.
A. The new evangelization of our souls “does not” depend on:
1. Excessive information as to how to re-evangelize ourselves and others: that is in books, TV programs, DVD’s, CD’s, blogs (including mine), Internet sites of all kinds, social media in all its outlets, etc. Reading and knowing all about our faith is super important but only part of the entire picture for a personal relationship with Him. Of course, catechesis in any form is basic but we can stay there in the parlance of pros and cons, why’s and why not’s and what the Church, the Catechism and or the Bible say and never move into the real thing: to LOVE AT ALL COST, GOD AND NEIGHBOR after we die to ourselves and accept every suffering in the way, and simply because following Jesus means precisely to do what He did…!!! It is so simple! Having all the information does not supplant our duty to love…
2. It does not depend on CREATING more and more different approaches to change ourselves or others. We can create brand new manuals of what to do and try to follow their content, but until we decide one day to forget about our plans and let God do whatever He wants with our will and make it His own, no approach or manual or plan or technique can truly get us running, because the Holy Spirit must be the one doing our conversion after we cease to tell God to do our will, even if partially! Abandonment to Divine Providence comes first in order to understand what approach God wants us to follow.
3. It does not depend on rituals (like attending Mass just in case, passing the beads of the Rosary to impress God to give us miracles, etc.) or attending retreats since there are fruits coming from these practices, of course, but they only last a few hours or days. What we need is to accept the challenge of being opened to be changed by the Holy Spirit, which can only be done with our “yes” to God’s will. And we know that many a time, we go to Mass, pray a Rosary and leave and continue with dissipated lives! Yes or no?
So, if today St. John the Baptist or St. Francis of Assisi or St. Dominic of Guzman or St. Augustine, etc. would come to my “barrio” to talk about evangelization, they would be extraordinary instruments of grace but IT WOULD REQUIRE MY YES to do what they advice and more than that: it would need my faith that God can do in my soul what they preach about. And the grace for a radical yes to change and to repent because God is around to change me depends on my LOVE OF GOD and neighbor… The more I love Him, that much more I will get converted and the more I love my neighbor, that much more I will become evangelized and can evangelize others, since love can do all things. Part B covers this topic further.
B. The new evangelization of my soul depends on the quality of my self-denial:
1. My self-denial must be exercised all the time and in all aspects, which means that each present moment is received as perfect as it can be. There is no need to look back or worry about what is next. It only needs a FIRM FAITH to end up loving God and neighbor and God will do the rest.
2. It needs purity of intention: that is, no more trying to control even my self-denial in order to help God along the way. Since each present moment is as perfect as it can be and God is in charge of it, my present moments should be dedicated to constant prayer as I do my chores or drive or do whatever; dedicated to thank Him for what it is, knowing that I am living a perfect moment regardless of crosses in the way or good times. This will keep my mind and soul as pure as possible so that the Holy Spirit can guide me to think, do and say what will give glory to God and because I am truly loving God like our Mother did!
3. But there is another much hidden subtle imperfection. I may claim purity of intention but constantly aborting any inquiring ideas of the present moment for the wrong reasons, like I may be petrified about “tomorrow” and want to suppress any thoughts at that moment that make me suffer more. In this instance, I must pay attention to the fact that there is no purity of intention and just a clever way to stop worrying too much out of fear and for my convenience! I must repent and accept my fear as a weakness of my flesh and ask God for help, with total certainty that He already knows about it and it is eager to answer my prayer and take it away.
4. My self-denial needs much prayer BUT NOT one that asks to know or understand the plans to change myself. My prayer is one to become a true servant with a “yes” that is as close as that of Our Lady’s. At no time do I have to compare myself to others, since all that God will allow is sooo perfect that I do not have to examine it for my approval. This is FAITH IN ACTION.
5. Self-denial is a state where I know that I am a sinner, with Satan, the world and my flesh waiting to devour me. If I sin, I must repent as soon as I commit the fault but not out of fear. There is nothing to fear but fear itself!!! I just have to show remorse and desire to amend my fault (of course not in the case of mortal sin that needs the absolution by a Priest) and then move on, since by the time I have repented with remorse, God has already forgiven me.
6. My self-denial must become a sincere effort to live at all cost abandoned to Divine Providence, with the certitude that God is capable of navigating my soul through the roughest of waters. Actually, my work is just to forget about myself and say Yes to God’s will no matter what.
C. Carrying of my crosses
1. I must carry my crosses embraced, accepted and as instruments of grace to be offered as sacrifice for me and other souls. Offering sacrifice should be in our minds at all time because much good can be done with it.
2. I must embrace my crosses in order to obey the command of Jesus to us, Who not only told us to do so but modeled it for us all the way to Calvary and as a huge hint for us of the salvific power that our suffering can have.
3. They should be embraced and accepted to fulfill His advice to lay down our lives for others. It completes our perfect self renunciation.
I am sure that our discipleship imitating his Passion with the carrying of our crosses and a constant self-denial, if united to prayer can make us super evangelists. We could say that that we have graduated from the School of the New Evangelization.
V. MY LIFE ACCORDING TO THE CALENDAR SEQUENCE and with tons of science reports… (Sorry about so much science! Yet, this information is vital to know well for health reasons)
Sunday, September 1.
Every Sunday, there is a program in a Hispanic channel titled, Sal y Pimienta, or Salt and Pepper. They reported the case of a very well known 33 years old Hispanic soap opera actor. I never watch this program but suddenly I ended up in this channel and heard that in the previous weeks, this young actor had had a perforated gastric ulcer…! It sounded very familiar… He spoke of encountering death… The perforation also contaminated his entire body and suffered from a severe general infection. He spent 7 days in CCU… His mother died of the same. He was operated on in order to stop the bleeding to save his life…
I then realized that God had operated another huge miracle for me… If they had found the source of bleeding, whether at hospital #1 or #2, they would have pushed to do the same surgery that he underwent in order to save my life… In the mean, I would have received a general anesthetic for at least 2-3 hours of surgery, and perhaps lose my memory forever… It would have been an ethical dilemma for me: losing my life versus saving my life but waking up with dementia! Ouch… Ah, but God hid the source of my bleeding until it had basically stopped in hospital #2 and by then, nobody spoke of doing surgery. Huh! In fact, this young actor was told by his doctors that he was able to be saved with surgery because he was young and in great shape (he looks like a body builder…), and that if he had been older, he did not have a chance… I smiled! My entire encounter with death ONLY PROVED TO ME THAT GOD WANTS ME AROUND for some time… And I am getting more and more convinced that yeeees, I want to live longer… There is no question that I must work for the Kingdom a little or much longer…God had the perfect opportunity to send me home and He did not, and even protected me from a general anesthetic with fluorinated gases… He is too much!
Monday, Sept. 2
I was writing the last blog and proceeding so slowly because my body was not too happy with sitting for more than 1.5 hours at the time to complete the long story I gave you and I kept giving the chore to my God… After all, He was in charge and I had total faith that it was so. I had about half written but still there was much to do. Remember that I am reacting to all foods, and each time I eat I go through a ½ hour of sweating and much pain. Obviously, I was taking the narcotic Vicodin every 6 hours in order to be able to survive the pain of the reaction against all foods.
At 10 PM, I had the idea of working a little on the blog before going to bed. I started writing and never stop until 3 AM of Tuesday, Sept. 3. During these five hours…….. I knew I was living a miracle. I knew it and kept smiling because I had this power within this broken body to keep going… At 3:30 AM I went to bed. I only had to edit it one more time… I woke up at 8 AM, said my Rosary with mother Angelica and at 9:30 AM came to edit it and added something else as dictated during the Rosary. The blog was posted at 12 noon… ANOTHER HUGE MIRACLE….
September 4 – “ALL ABOUT PROBIOTICS”
My son took the day off in order to take me to the office of my “hero” gastroenterologist, Dr. D.V. He was very kind and spent more than one hour with me, explaining how I had to take this powder or VSL #3 which will make my allergies disappear. This special ‘GOOD” BACTERIA have been collected from the stools of very healthy humans, and this started being done at a commercial level about 15 years ago. Normally, the best way is to take it with yogurt, but by now, I had furiously reacted to yogurt, as well as eggs and rice bread. Dr. V. explained that this powder must be taken with certain products in order to keep these bacteria alive and healthy to cure the gut and the immune system… So, he created a cocktail for me made of almond and coconut milks plus some powdered flaxseed and vinegar to which I had to add the package (VSL #3) with the 480,000 billion good bacteria (a probiotic).
I asked him if the sudden allergies to almost all foods (that I had experienced after my two hospitalizations), if those reactions were due to my immune system, crazy as it was before the hospitalizations and becoming worse and much more active when these cells encountered the DNA of seven humans in the blood transfusions. He said that it was very possible. So far, Dr. V wants me to continue to take the VSL #3, hoping that the excessive reaction to almost everything in the last 2 weeks will eventually become less and less with the good bacteria. He seemed very sure that we will see the light in about 6 weeks
Recently, I found three reports regarding this subject matter. I want to pass it on to you because God did it for me, when He re-routed me to hospital #2 to meet Dr. D.V. I had never, ever, heard of the science of probiotics with so much detail coming from major universities all over the world. So, here you have it.
1. Study Suggests
Posted: August 28, 2013
The number of bacteria in your gut — as well as the diversity of said bacteria — could be tied to your weight, according to a new study. A team of researchers from around the world found that people who are obese have fewer and less diverse gut bacteria than their leaner counterparts.
"We also see that if you belong to the group with less intestinal bacteria and have already developed obesity, you will also gain more weight over a number of years," study researcher Oluf Pederson, professor and scientific director at the University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, said in a statement. "We don’t know what came first, the chicken or the egg, but one thing is certain: it is a vicious circle that poses a health threat."
Researchers noted that the gut bacteria makeup of people who are obese may be provoking mild inflammation, which could thereby raise the risk of chronic health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. (And of course, other research has suggested that some gut bacteria can actually turn a nutrient found in egg yolks and meat into a compound called TMAO, which clogs arteries and raises heart risks.)
"Even lean people who are poor in bacterial species have a higher risk of developing these pathologies," study researcher S. Dusko Ehrlich, of the INRA Research Centre of Jouy-en-Josas in France, told NPR.
The Nature study is based on genetic mapping of intestinal bacteria from 292 Danes, and also showed that about one in four people has 40 percent less gut bacteria than average, as well as a lower-than-average diversity of bacteria.
The study is the work of the MetaHIT team, which included scientists from elsewhere in Europe and China. Previous research has suggested that dietary changes to gut bacteria could also affect the brain. A study of women in the journal Gastroenterology demonstrated that eating yogurt with probiotics (which contributes to healthy gut flora) affected the brain activity and engagement. (End of article)
2. GUT BACTERIA COULD HELP FIGHT OBESITY, STUDY SHOWS
By LAURAN NEERGAARD September 5, 2013
WASHINGTON — Call it a hidden ally: The right germs just might be able to help fight fat. Different kinds of bacteria that live inside the gut can help spur obesity or protect against it, say scientists at Washington University in St. Louis who transplanted intestinal germs from fat or lean people into mice and watched the rodents change.
And what they ate determined whether the good germs could move in and do their job. Thursday’s report raises the possibility of one day turning gut bacteria into personalized fat-fighting therapies, and it may help explain why some people have a harder time losing weight than others do.
"It’s an important player," said Dr. David Relman of Stanford University, who also studies how gut bacteria influence health but wasn’t involved in the new research. "This paper says that diet and microbes are necessary companions in all of this. They literally and figuratively feed each other." The research was reported in the journal Science.
We all develop with an essentially sterile digestive tract. Bacteria rapidly move in starting at birth – bugs that we pick up from mom and dad, the environment, first foods. Ultimately, the intestine teams with hundreds of species, populations that differ in people with varying health. Overweight people harbor different types and amounts of gut bacteria than lean people, for example. The gut bacteria we pick up as children can stick with us for decades, although their makeup changes when people lose weight, previous studies have shown.
Clearly, what you eat and how much you move are key to how much you weigh. But are those bacterial differences a contributing cause of obesity, rather than simply the result of it? If so, which bugs are to blame, and might it be possible to switch out the bad actors?
To start finding out, Washington University graduate student Vanessa Ridaura took gut bacteria from eight people – four pairs of twins that each included one obese sibling and one lean sibling. One pair of twins was identical, ruling out an inherited explanation for their different weights. Using twins also guaranteed similar childhood environments and diets. She transplanted the human microbes into the intestines of young mice that had been raised germ-free.
The mice who received gut bacteria from the obese people gained more weight – and experienced unhealthy metabolic changes – even though they didn’t eat more than the mice who received germs from the lean twins, said study senior author Dr. Jeffrey Gordon, director of Washington University’s Center of Genome Sciences and Systems Biology.
Then came what Gordon calls the battle of the microbes. Mice that harbored gut bacteria from a lean person were put in the same cages as mice that harbored the obesity-prone germs. The research team took advantage of an icky fact of rodent life: Mice eat feces, so presumably they could easily swap intestinal bugs.
What happened was a surprise. Certain bacteria from the lean mice invaded the intestines of the fatter mice, and their weight and metabolism improved. But the trade was one-way – the lean mice weren’t affected. (End of article)
3. My gastroenterologist, Dr. V. gave me a copy of an article from July/Aug. 2012 on the history of probiotics in the XX Century…. And below I am sharing some parts of this article.
THE SCIENCE OF PROBIOTICS
Saturday Evening Post July/August 2012
Americans are turning to probiotics in part to counter the sanitizing effect of modern food processing, which minimizes risks of pathogens in food but also kills natural flora which some scientists believe have health benefits. Live bacteria, originally marketed mainly in yogurt and dietary supplements, are now being added to breakfast cereals, juices, sports drinks, muffins, chocolate, and even pizza. Potential health benefits range from better digestive health to prevention of colds and flu’s.
Consider Herald Hollingshed, a 44-year-old technical director for a computer-services company, who felt his digestion started "slowing" when he hit middle age. He was frequently uncomfortable and bloated, but found relief with a Procter & Gamble product, Align. The pill "helps everything flow as it should," says Hollingshed, who also switched to a healthier diet. "I feel in my best shape ever." For Cheryl Richardson, a 67-year-old retired lab technician from Chestertown, Maryland, probiotics over the years have helped balance the negative effects of antibiotics. Several years ago, after becoming ill from restaurant food while on vacation in the British Isles, a doctor prescribed an antibiotic that seemed to throw her digestive system out of whack. High doses of probiotics put it back on track.
Baba Vasilika, a peasant from a small village in Bulgaria, lived to be 126 years old and her son, Tudor, to 101. The secret to their longevity, says a 20th century text, was a daily diet of sour milk, packed with beneficial bacteria. The theory of how probiotics help us has for years been simple: The good bacteria crowd out the bad.
The consumer "goes into a supermarket and has no idea which product to buy," says Gregor Reid, professor of microbiology at the University of Western Ontario’s Lawson Research Institute. Despite the potential for confusion, scientists say probiotics hold great promise for human health. The evidence lies, in part, with the beneficial effects of breast milk. Beneficial gut flora called bifidobacteria are higher in breast-fed infants than in those fed by formula, says Glenn R. Gibson, professor of food microbiology at University of Reading in England, adding that the breast-fed infants have lower incidence of asthma and eczema. Good bacteria drop after babies are weaned, then remain stable through adult life until they drop precipitously around age 60 to 65.
"They don’t go away completely, but they decrease and make us more prone to infections," Gibson says. Low levels of good gut bacteria, he says, is likely at least part of the reason why the elderly suffer most during food poisoning outbreaks.
The theory of how probiotics help us has for years been simple: The good bacteria crowd out the bad, resulting in better health. In recent years, scientists have learned that probiotic bacteria also take on many more useful tasks, says Philip M. Sherman, a scientist at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. For example, scientists believe some types of probiotic bacteria help boost production of a protective mucus which lines the gut. Others, he says, produce cellular messages that calm harmful inflammation.
A growing number of scientists believe that gut microbes can change overall health. Scientists are beginning to study the use of probiotics to treat depression and even obesity.
Benefits have already been shown for the digestive system, immune modulation, and dental health. There is even talk of the potential to increase longevity. "It’s exciting and there’s great promise," says Joan Salge Blake, a clinical associate professor of nutrition at Boston University and a spokeswoman for the nonprofit Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
If you want the benefits of probiotics, you need to select carefully. "It’s not one size fits all," says Salge Blake. “The one that may help with constipation is different from the one that may help with immune support. Make sure you are getting the right strain for what you want."
Probiotics can also ease an uncomfortable inflammation of the large intestine called ulcerative colitis, which causes cramps and diarrhea. Jeff Isaacson, 43, of Tempe, Arizona, was taking two prescription drugs for ulcerative colitis but still suffering flare-ups. His doctor suggested adding VSL#3, a probiotic cocktail of eight strains of bacteria, to his daily regimen. After two weeks taking the capsules, Isaacson says, "I became basically symptom free." As a preventive measure, Dr. Scott Bautch, Wassau, Wisconsin, says he recommends probiotics to replace any good bacteria that are "wiped out" by antibiotics. Taking probiotics can help patients prevent antibiotic-associated yeast infections and even unpleasant episodes of diarrhea. (End of article quotes)
It was also interesting that a friend, who has Parkinson’s disease, was given an antibiotic for an infection in her foot. During the treatment, the Parkinsonian movements went away only to return after she finished the antibiotic. I was asked by a family member what I thought about it. I asked the Lord and called for the intercession of Blessed John Paul II who suffered it, to give me a hint. Suddenly it all seemed clear. WHAT ABOUT IF THE BAD BACTERIA and lack of good ones in our gut, is behind the illness of Parkinson’s and probably with a particular genetic predisposition? The antibiotic for sure killed all bacteria in her gut. So, once the bad ones were gone, the brain quieted down! Hmm! As the bad bacteria returned, the brain received some signal to keep producing the symptoms of Parkinson’s. As you can see, this may represent a breakthrough for the many who suffer this illness. She will be taking the SVL #3. We shall see if in her case the good bacteria overcomes the bad one, if her symptoms may get much better or disappear altogether. I will have to pass this information to Dr. V and see if he has heard about this kind of possibility.
Saturday, Sept. 7
At 10 AM my time, I started praying LIVE with Pope Francis for peace in Syria. As you must know, it was a major prayer gathering not only at the Vatican but worldwide. I offered all my many problems with health and due to new allergies after the 7 units of blood received. At 12:05 PM, while adoring the Eucharistic Jesus, I understood the following as if He was saying it to me right from Rome: “We have much to do. We must explain to all peoples that the power of intercessory prayer rests on FAITH which leads to become a true disciple. Then, a life of discipleship brings LOVE for God and neighbor and only LOVE in your hearts WILL CONQUER VIOLENCE AND BRING PEACE.”
We all know this truth stated above from His Word and His example, but what needs to be repeated is that as a Church we still put emphasis on what we can do for others, from programs to talks on the subject matter, to retreats, to reading books and even to study the Bible. YET the crux of the matter is THAT WE MUST BECOME LOVERS AT ALL COST of God (with the most radical yes to His will at every moment of our lives) and of neighbor (praying for others, serving others, teaching them, evangelizing them, etc.), but with our hearts already converted to do so out of a deep love for them. And of course, let me repeat that in order to love our neighbor, we have to forgive and this includes lack of resentment for anything they do and asking God for the grace to love them as He does, where they are at.
For example: how can we speak about defending life from conception to the end of our lives, and turn around and look with great resentment those who are in power and imposing unjust laws… The latter are as important and beautiful as the babies that are killed. It shows and very clearly that we forget that the life of babies is terminated but the life of our persecutors is destined to hell! What is worse for our neighbor? Both are almost equal: the right to be born and the right to be saved from damnation. We had the most extraordinary encyclical from our Pope Benedict XVI on LOVE… What did we do with it?
In these four hours of prayer LIVE with the rest of Christians and I imagine with many of others of different religions, I had a profound sense that LOVE is not truly lived in order to conquer Satan, the world and our flesh. The question is, “Why?” We can study the lives of the Saints over and over but if we do not realize that they exude discipleship in all they do, we waste our time because JUST talking about them will not do it with lasting results. The Saints denied themselves in order to make room to receive the grace necessary to embrace their crosses with gusto, not just dragging them, and finally to follow Jesus…And whenever you follow someone, you try to imitate what they did… And Jesus came because the Father loved us soo much that He sent His only Son and this Son suffered for us to give us salvation, eternal life. I tremble when I think of the many lives of Saints I have read since I was a tiny baby, when the life of St. Teresa of Avila was read at meal times, at the home of my grandma’s father and sisters. Then, St. Teresa became again my closest friend by 1985, the year I spent at home after my first major professional persecution. I also read St. John of the Cross backwards and forwards during this hiatus from work.
It was followed by St. Paul of the Cross who arrived in my house in 2000, this huge painting that I found in Toledo, OH and being sold in an antique store and coming from a Passionist Monastery in England. Of course, I read all his books… and to this date, he is in the storage place waiting for me to take it to a larger home. I wanted to give him away, and I have told this story many times, but no Church in the Midwest which had its name wanted him… So, I decided to cut him in pieces and he said, “No… Take me with you.” But St. Therese of Lissieux was also my friend since I remember because my grandmother kept repeating the story that her picture landed on top of my body as I slept in the early morning and as my grandma was sitting in her bed praying the Rosary. And when she got up to console me since she expected my waking up screaming, the picture went back to the wall. Then, in 2002 I visited Lissieux with a group from Michigan under the spiritual direction of a great friend of mine, Father Bernie Bowens, S.J. who was a great devotee of St. Therese; his doctoral thesis had been on St. John of the Cross. We also visited Paray-le-Monial and of course, we remembered the liaison of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Jesuits. In my case, my first three years of grade school was at St. Margaret Mary’s primary school, and I was inducted into the promises that the Sacred Heart gave to St. Margaret, plus I was also enjoying much the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
Of course, I have many other friends, Carmelites (St. Teresa of the Andes from Chile and French Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity) and the Chilean Jesuit, St. Alberto Hurtado Cruchaga. I have all of their pictures in my room, always there to remind me that they are my intercessors. However, is it sufficient for me to remind myself of their friendship through the years and of their holy lives? Of course not… I suspect that their intercession through the years have consisted in making me understand that I must work at my conversion at every moment of my life because I need more faith, hope and love, but the most important of all, is LOVE. And my work is to be cognizant that any resentment in my heart is exactly what Satan wants.
In fact, I recently called my friend in Costa Rica after months of being absent from her life because of my health issues. We converse a little via Internet but I always called her at least once per month. She used to send me all the medicines before I made the connection with local doctors. She mentioned that Nicaraguan President, Daniel Ortega had invaded the northern part of Costa Rica which is next to Nicaragua. He wants to make it possible to start getting help to create another “canal”, like the Panama Canal by using the San Juan River which divides the two countries…Panama is just to our south. Daniel Ortega has been known for his communist alliances… especially with recently departed President Chavez from Venezuela. The moment she told me the story and knowing that Costa Rica does not have an army (just a Department of Police)…and that it is a very democratic country, I felt an instant resentment for this Daniel Ortega, a man I know well when he was president the first time. I then told my friend that I had to add Mr. Ortega to my list of people I resent, and to place him as well in my community Rosary list of intentions in order for me to love him. But it is so easy to become resentful of people!
By the way, since the day of prayer at the Vatican, I have grown very much in love for Bashir El-Assad… I have even offered the sight of my left eye for his salvation since he is an ophthalmologist… So, I presume that I will end up loving Daniel Ortega as well. The point I am making is this: “I have to understand that if I want to work for the Kingdom as Jesus commanded all of us, I must become pure of heart, and I MUST DELETE ANY RESENTMENT for my brothers and sisters, since “reading” the lives of the Saints is a mockery on my part; that is, it is a joke unless I seriously seek my conversion to love always and in all circumstances… I noticed that many people are using the word “intentional” for different topics. I must also become an “intentional lover” of my brothers and sisters by resisting any resentment and asking for help to my Father and His Son, through the intercession of Our Lady and all the Saints. And when I pray the Our Father, my Dad in heaven will not be mocked… when I ask Him to forgive me as I forgive those who trespass against me, or at least try to and pray for this to happen.
Tuesday, September 10.
I am going to follow the above so serious preaching on my part with something funny… so that you can rest a little…My Mother is simply a dream… I was downstairs having a meal and looking at her picture, “The Sacred Heart of Mary.” She came to ask me to continue placing many scientific themes in these blogs. It had been my intention since my first blog of November of 2008. I thought that it was a way for me to share what I have learned from naturopathic medicine or the importance of our nutrition for our health. At the time, Nov. of 2008, I was suffering from dementia… Little did I know that very soon after, late 2009, I would learn how to help my dementia through detoxification via a PBS program. However, later I understood something else and not mentioned by this PBS program, that fluoride is a cause of dementia. Our Lady said that all along I had been graced with so much interest on the use of food as a healer of illnesses precisely to help others… even to the point of finding a cure for dementia, and many years ago, finding a food additive that can cause depression in some of us. Then, she said, “Let me prove to you that I am truly talking to you about this theme. First call the Holy Spirit and open the Bible and read the right side page.” I did.
Daniel 1 à Since Daniel and 3 friends among others had been chosen to be trained to become servants of King Nebuchadnezzar, they were receiving food from the royal table of this non Jewish king from Babylon who had captured Jerusalem. Therefore, they would have had to eat “forbidden” foods and drink wine So, Daniel bargained with the steward in charge of them all, and asked to eat just vegetables and water for 10 days. This vegan diet made Daniel and his three friends look the healthiest compared with those who ate from the king’s table menu!!! Not only that, but God gave these four men “knowledge and proficiency in all literature and science, and to Daniel the understanding of all visions and dreams! …At the end, the King found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his kingdom.”
I started laughing. I had not paid attention that even in those times, vegetables and meats were a topic of discussion and a vegan diet could be so successful. No doubt that God was honoring these 4 young men for their obedience to the Law… Wow! And yes, by learning this story of the importance of vegetables for our health, even today, my Mother proved to me that she was the one asking me to continue sharing topics of nutrition and good health! But at the same time, there is an element of profound faith in Daniel’s proposition to the steward. He wanted to be faithful to God first and foremost, and of course, God was there for him. I remembered my recent days in the two hospitals and how my God was present in everything I went through.
For example, I recalled how I spent so many hours, especially in hospital No. 2, without moving… My hemoglobin was low and as transfusions of blood were given to me, I had to keep my neck in a precise position because this second time and due to my state of anemia, they introduced a needle in a vein in my neck. We call it, a “central line.” So, if I turned my neck too much to the right, I would stop the IV infusions and the machine would go crazy as it recognized the obstruction to the IV flow. Then, a nurse would have to come in to check it up, etc. In the other hand, this second time, they place a naso-gastric tube or a plastic tube going through my nose into the esophagus and then into the stomach. They kept irrigating my stomach with water via a machine and washing out any blood as it was then suctioned. I had a urinary catheter in my bladder, needed since I had so many other tubes in my body, plus they placed special pads in both of my legs that would be massaging them to avoid the formation of any clots since I was not moving. I had these things for 3 days… and all throughout this martyrdom, I was at peace, smiling and having to talk to many who would come to ask questions about my knowledge of the things I know and nobody else does, like the cure for dementia and what carrageenan can do in some of us.
As I review these circumstances and one month later, I wonder how did I do it? I could not receive Communion because of the naso-gastric tube!!! So, different people from different parishes would come to pray with me the Our Father and a Hail Mary… God wanted to let me know that He would not abandon me even in these details. Jesus was abandoned by His own, His disciples, but these parishes never did… Again, the cross was supposed to be heavy but truly it turned out to be easy!
Wednesday, September 11.
9 AM. Again my Mother came to give me some advice.
“Your main work is to feed your brothers and sisters. So, as you sit home and unable to drive to go to the parish to receive my Son, use this sacrifice for the benefit of others since your prayer will have much power united to your crosses. While watching TV, ask for God’s mercy for all people you see in the screen, and those who are associated with the programs, like directors, producers and writers. Constantly offer your sacrifice and pray for God’s mercy for the Church as well.”
1:20 PM. I was resting after lunch and knowing that much pain would follow due to allergies. I heard these words from the Holy Spirit, “When you hide under the mantle of your Mother in heaven, I will find you much faster and it will be easier for you to receive My guidance and gifts.” These “TWO” keep working side by side since the Annunciation!
Thursday, September 12.
My Mother gave me a page number in the Bible. It was Revelation 13. I know Revelation 12 very well since it introduces us to our Mother and her fight with Satan. This chapter 12 talks about a huge red dragon who wanted to attack the woman and take her newborn son. It is then that Michael and his angels in heaven battled against Satan and threw him out. In Revelation 12: 17, it says, “Then, the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Jesus.” Wow! I did not remember well this verse 17… Notice how her offspring is recognized as those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Jesus… In other words, she was given to us as a Mom at the foot of the Cross, but I have to accept this gift… And I accept being her daughter when I keep God’s commandments and bear witnes to Jesus. Wow… I then felt so good about writing these blogs… And I must tell you that I have not had any oppression in at least 3 months…even within the period of being so sickly in two hospitals. No doubt that Mr. Satan was kept away by my Mother and in response to any prayer you have offered for me! Thank you!
Then, I continued with Revelations 13, the actual chapter that she wanted me to read. On verse 1a it says, “Then I saw a beast come out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads; on its horns were ten diadems, and on its heads blasphemous names.”
Revelations 13: 2b – To it (to the beast), the dragon (Satan) gave its own power and throne, along with great authority. Verse 3b – Fascinated, the whole world followed after the beast. 4a – They worshiped the dragon because it gave its authority to the beast.
Rev. 13: 6-7. “It (the beast) opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming His Name and His dwelling and those who dwell in heaven. It was also allowed to wage war against the holy ones and conquer them, and it was granted authority over every tribe, people, tongue and nation.
I found some references to Satan in the bottom of this page as it appears in Rev. 12: 9. Also as the prince of the world in John 12: 31.
I am sure that through the centuries, there have been many interpretations of these quoted verses of Rev. 13. I will leave those interpretations to the theologians. As for me, they gave me this understanding for my own spiritual formation: Satan gave its authority to the “pagan world or the beast” so that we all would be totally engulfed in lies, innuendos, a climate where power, prestige, possessions (money and all that money can buy) and pride (depicted as ambition) would reign in our hearts. And all of us have been affected in one way or the other. These actions of the “beast” are all against FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE in God and for God. So we have the case of Lucy, A GYPSY or a unique brand of yuppie, one who thinks they are the main character of a very special story, that must be ambitious and to ignore everyone else!
My Mother continued to instruct me after I read Rev. 12 and 13. She was clear and to the point… “Remember that Satan is around you and seeking your destruction and the destruction of others. Never forget not to be fearful but to become a spiritual doctor who will attack the enemy before the enemy has a chance to give you trouble. The cure of such calamity is simple: Love and love and love God and others at every breath that your lungs take. Seek all moments where you can exercise these two loves. The love of God consists in saying yes to His will with eyes closed… at every second of your life, welcoming your crosses as ways to keep Satan away. The love of neighbor requires much work because Satan will be tempting people around you, like those who are more interested in their own ambitions… So, your yeses to God’s will and especially to major crosses become a remedy for their temptations. You become a redemptive power in their lives. You may never know who are those you are helping out, but yes, you know that I have power over Satan’s work who uses the “beast” as the forefront of his intrigues and hatred for my offspring. From now on, offer all the Rosaries you pray in atonement for your resentments and ask God to heal such sins, since they will destroy your love for neighbor and Satan will be winning that battle.”
She also reminded me that ambition has many faces. “Even among religious good people, they embrace the ambition to save many souls but with their own methods and prayers. The only ambition you should have is to love God day and night in all its forms and to love your neighbor also in the many forms you know. Always remember that you are a servant and as such, God will use you as He so desires. Yes, you want to save souls but in God’s terms. If you do it for self-indulgence and to look successful, Satan will find many holes in your methods and will abort good fruits.” I became amazed to realize that our Mother is truly our way to Jesus.
Saturday, September 14.
I needed to buy many things for cooking and for personal use. My son and I planned it so that we would go very early to a Target store which is about a mile from this house. It opens at 8 AM. We were there at 8:30 AM. I did go only because he would have to do the shopping but I would be there to be sure that he bought what I needed… It is a long story but it was easier for me to inspect what he gathered than to bring something home that would not be what I wanted… and he would not return it, and with reason… So, after much prayer on Friday, I knew I had to go. We entered Target and I used my rented walker. I would not use a supermarket basket to help me because with the things bought, it gets to be heavy to push and I have anemia and weakness in general. So, I went and sat by the pharmacy and my son went to get what I needed.
I needed to buy some sort of cover for my bed since the old ones were trashed full of blood… He inspected where they were and then I walked to the area and chose one. By this time, I had shown my son where the bathrooms were in this particular Target since my bladder with so much allergy to ALL FOODS, it makes the kidneys make urine like crazy and the bladder becomes very touchy and the desire to urinate with little or much urine requires a visit to the bathroom. So, if I needed to go the bathroom, I wanted him to know that I may have gone there…
After I chose the bed cover, I asked him to go and pay while I visited the bathroom… I went in and after I proceeded to wash my hands, a woman, about 50 +, was also washing her hands and left just before I did. BUT SHE HAD NOT LEFT… SHE WAS OUT HOLDING THE DOOR OPEN FOR ME to exit with my walker… This was a meeting that I must conclude was God’s will… We started to talk but outside so that my son could find me and I learned that she sells a product that is good food for our bodies. Her name was Georgia and she used to live around here. However, about one year ago she had moved to southern CA to be with her daughter who needed her and she had just driven the day before from southern California to attend the birthday party of her best friend in this area… and was at TARGET precisely when I was there… to open the door and to become my friend!!!!
When she found out that I was a doctor and that I was cured of dementia, she invited me to attend an upcoming conference where a Harvard researcher will talk about the product that she sells… and this in Livermore, quite far from Martinez. She even offered a car and chauffeur to drive me there since she wanted me to hear this MD. I declined because of the state of my health after having lost so much blood and she understood. She gave me her email and I gave her mine. SOME HOW, I knew God wanted something from this encounter. She also gave me one package of one of the products that this Zija company sells. It has this Himalayan veggie, MORINGA and called, Moringa Super Mix. I remembered that I know of another plant from the Himalayas that was extraordinary for the immune system… It modulated it… but as of three years ago, it was only made by a company here in California… I have no idea if God wanted me to remember this older product that I used to buy in Toledo, OH. Of what I am super sure is that this encounter with Georgia was HIS PLAN… because to travel from far away and visit a particular X Target store and go to the bathroom at a particular moment in her life to meet me, was from God… My son and I went then to a supermarket… and I was by now dying… However, we bought what was needed and by the time I came home at 10:00 AM, Georgia had already written to me via email:
“You have an amazing story and I look forward to learning more from you !
Keep up the awesome work and continue to be the amazing woman God intended you to be! Blessings my dear”
Well, I wrote this story to my children on Sept. 17 as appears above, I sent the email and as I got up and next to the printer I found an empty bottle of the Himalayan herb that I used to buy in Toledo! Its name is Adaptrin and this particular bottle had an expiration date of January 2012… Of course, it was bought prior to July of 2008 when I came to California. The questions was: What are the chances of finding Georgia as described above with a Himalayan product which reminded me of Adaptrin, but even the name had escaped my mind, plus finding the product next to the printer?… The chances are minimal… Do we have to worry about our lives? Do we have to tell God what to do? There is no doubt in my mind that the more we believe in His love for us, He goes the extra mile to guide us to whatever our body needs or our minds or our souls… It is so simple! However, God was not done yet. I wanted to buy Adaptrin and looking in the Internet, I found another surprise… Look at the dates…
Staten Island, NY, May 15, 2013 Adaptrin Announced Today That Its Scientifically Proven, All-Natural Herbal Supplement Has 21 Elements That Bolster Healthy Cardiovascular and Immune Functions.
“Adaptrin a scientifically proven, all natural herbal supplement drawing from traditional Tibetan medicine announced today, after its re-release this month, that it uses 21 different herbs and minerals to serve as bioprotectant that alleviates stress of the body. Adaptrin’s bioprotectant ingredients prevent wear and tear damage of the body’s cells and tissues, and the resulting premature aging, inflammation and disease.
“It is formulated according to the principles of Tibetan medicine. The formula was introduced to Switzerland (via Russia and Poland) in the 1960’s. Since then, the compound has been subjected to extensive clinical testing. Over the past 25 years, about 30 scientific studies have been conducted, making it the most extensively researched botanical combination formula. Furthermore, the product has been registered in Switzerland for treatment of poor circulation due to atherosclerosis, in particular for peripheral vascular disease. It may also be beneficial for reducing pain, lowering blood pressure, and lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Pacific Biologic’s Adaptrin is a proprietary formula of the Badmaev family.
“In a study of mental performance and emotional well-being in patients with a median age of 59, nearly all who used Adaptrin during a six-month period said they had improvements in memory, mental clarity and orientation, energy and alertness, sleep, mental attitude and well-being.
“Additionally, the improvement of digestion with the help of the all-natural herbal ingredients of the formula is a hallmark of Tibetan medicine, which believes that most of disease conditions occur over an extended period of time and originate in a dysfunctional digestive tract and with unbalanced body nourishment. It is designed to regulate, normalize, and support the healthy cardiovascular and immune systems in men and women, providing a platform for healthy living and optimal aging.”
I am going to order this product and take it, since God made an appointment with Georgia to remind me of this product, and even moved my heart to go shopping and find her! Just imagine if I had not prayed about it and/or if I would have not obeyed this order to accompany my son… PLEEEASE, notice how loving this God is. He makes appointments in our lives to meet people who will help us and this is not the first time the He does something similar in my life. I am actually used to it. But it is a clear proof that He is alive and right next to us at all times. In fact, trying to mess His will for us by even worrying about what to do next, it is an insult to Him… And yes, this blog is getting very long but I have to share these stories because they teach us that doing His will with a huge yes is the smartest way to grow in faith, hope and love!
Monday, September 16.
It was 2:45 PM and I was downstairs after my lunch. My Mother asked me to check a page in one of my Bibles that I keep there.
In the upper part of the page it was about Romans 12 : 25-29 and the subtitle was: God’s irrevocable call. Triumph of God’s Mercy!
The topic had to do with God’s design and how Israel’s unbelief was used to grant the light of faith to the Gentiles. (PLEASE NOTICE HOW THE ENTIRE STORY IS SIMILAR TO THE PRESENT TIMES) Meanwhile and despite Israel’s lack of faith in God, Israel remained dear to Him and still the object of special providence, the mystery of which will one day will be revealed… (STAR THINKING ABOUT ALL OUR PRESENT PERSECUTORS OF THE CHURCH, and how much they are loved by God…! Do we love them just as much?)
At the bottom, this Bible has some explanations of the above as it appeared in Romans 9:13-16, 18 and worthwhile to review — It is written: “I loved Jacob but hated Essau.” What then are we to say? Is there injustice on the part of God? Of course not! For He says to Moses, “I will show mercy to whom I will. I will take pity on whom I will. So, it depends not upon a person’s will or exertion, but upon God, Who shows mercy… He has mercy upon whom he will, and He hardens whom He wills (like Pharaoh in Egypt)”.
Romans 11: 30-33 – “Just as you once disobeyed God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience, so they have now disobeyed in order that , by virtue of the mercy shown to you, they too may (now) receive mercy. For God delivered all to disobedience, that He might have mercy upon all. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are His judgments and how unsearchable His ways!”
Just in these verses I started to understand how much we have to love our present persecutors since they are to a certain point helping us to receive God’s mercy, and they are loved by God just as much as He does love us. How I wished I had understood this topic with these explanations from St. Paul when decades ago I was professionally persecuted. But on this day, my resentments started to melt. Who am I to resent my brothers and sisters when God may have hardened their hearts because of His inscrutable judgments. Amazing. I continued reading Romans 12.
Romans 12: 6a: “Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them…
Romans 12: 9-21 – “Let love be sincere; hate what is evil, hold on to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another in showing honor. Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality. Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Have the same regard for one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil with evil; be concerned with what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, on your part, live at peace with all. Beloved, do not look for revenge but leave room for the wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord. Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head. DO NOT BE CONQUERED BY EVIL BUT CONQUER EVIL WITH GOOD.”
It was so clear for me that I had to share this teaching with you. God loves our enemies just as much, and if I follow Him, well, I must do everything possible to serve them, and in the process, God will grace me with the power to love them where they are at. His mercy must be in my heart for my enemies, and the Holy Spirit will do such change, once I understand the beauty of everyone around me, just as Israel had disobeyed God and He loved them to pieces…
Thursday, September 19.
After my breakfast at 8:20 AM and waiting for Mother Angelica’s Rosary at 8:30 AM, my Ma said, “You are resenting this X person. Offer this Rosary for you not to resent anyone and no matter what or why. You cannot pray the Our Father with resentment in your heart. It is making a mockery of God’s Word. And in time and after several Rosaries, this purification of your heart will produce many other graces and God will supply your needs.”
Of course, I was still eagerly waiting for the bill regarding the monies I will owe the two hospitals. In fact, just before my illness, I was ordered to have a hemoglobin plus a level of my thyroid hormone on an outpatient basis and I just had received a note from Medicare telling me that it does not cover the cost. It is possible that the extra insurance will not cover if Medicare does not. So, I will have to pay $198 just for those two tests!!! My Mother knew what was in my mind and money matters was one of them
. She continued, “The power coming from your purification and not resenting anyone is similar to the power in the parting of the Red Sea or the Jordan River in order to reach the Promised Land. You are in that journey, going to eternally live one day in the place that your Father has ready for you. It is the same Promised Land and it depends in your conversion where you love God and your brothers and sisters because both are worthy of being loved… and no matter who your neighbor is.”
There is no doubt that she has been making much easier for me to stop all resentment!
Friday, September 20.
I received another counsel by my Mother. She sent me to a page and it was 2Chronicles 29 and 30.In those chapters, the priest Aaron was sent by God to ascend a mountain after 40 years of journeying in the desert with his brother Moses and the people of Israel. In the interim, he had been unfaithful to God (the story of the golden calf) and he died at the peak of the mountain. It was a reminder to me that we have to have the faith of Abraham and not of the priest Aaron. And in my own life, I must be trained as Abraham was to trust that God is in total charge of the littlest details of my life; and just as important, that I have to love God by doing His will with great joy regardless of the cost, and love my neighbor regardless of what they do to me or not, because they are beloved of my Father as well. It is not my choice to decide what to do. It is a routing well explained by the Old Testament and by Jesus Himself and his disciples after He ascended to heaven. And of course, resentment of any kind needs to be gone!
On this date I also received a notice that at the end of October there is a national conference on PROBIOTICS TO BE HELD in San Antonio TX. Wow! How interesting and it proved to me that this topic is gaining notoriety. How they found my name and address remains a mystery! I have visited this city many times in years past when we had many Anesthesiology conferences which we must attend in order to gain some hours of studies (CME’s) necessary to renew our medical licenses. And of course, living in the Midwest, it meant to visit a place where Spanish was heard every place which I enjoyed much…This time, I do not have the money to travel and may be, not even the health to do so, but I would love to attend even that I do not need the CME’s anymore.
Sunday, September 22.
I had already quoted that I did attend via TV, the LIVE Masses in Sardinia and with EWTN. At 10 AM I came to check my emails and AOL had some painful news for me. A priest from Pennsylvania had been apprehended for molesting a 15 year old boy. I immediately started to resent this man, and just as fast, I realized that all the teaching received in the prior days was aimed to this moment. I repented and asked for the grace to love this man. I am sure that I will have the grace to see in this priest another sinner like I am… and that I will pray for him with tenderness, the same tenderness of the mercy of God as He does with all of us, or as the mother loves the baby in her womb.
VI. CONCLUSIONS: How to putt the puzzle together but according to my humble understanding!
Tuesday, September 24, 2013
I am not going to write anything new but I will be preaching. I did sit, prayed and asked the Holy Spirit what I should conclude with. So, please bear with me since it may make you unhappy.
1. The state of the present times is unique at all levels and the world is submerged in immorality, agnosticism/atheism, violence of all kinds in action and words, hatred among peoples even within the same country (e.g.: as of late, Egypt, Syria, the U.S. political parties, etc.). I already spoke at length of it at the beginning of this blog. The threat of a world war is evident. Jesus’ description of the end times fits this picture. In this section, the question remains: what to do about it?
2. Our Roman Catholic Church continues to be very active in creating programs and plans to bring Catholics back to Sunday Mass, and this has been present since the conclusion of Vatican II.
1) Catholic schools now more than ever are trying to graduate boys and girls who are fascinated with God.
2) Our ministerial priests are trying very hard to produce future adult Catholics who know Christ personally. We cannot complain about their hard work with less numbers in their ranks and at times serving 2-3 parishes at once.
3) Our recent elected Popes before and after the Council have been EXTRAORDINARY men. Each one was sent by the Holy Spirit with different gifts and talents! So, God has never abandoned us!
4) We, laity, are extraordinary Martha’s and I write this with certitude and much gratitude because we need Martha’s. Without them, our priests and religious orders could not develop all the programs in each parish.
3. Despite this good picture, our Sunday Masses keep losing members since the Council. Yes, there must be a very quiet spiritual battle going on behind the scenes. So, what to do about it? It seems to me that as a Church we have failed not for what we have done (many retreats, online sites with great libraries, the writing of many books coming in great numbers and on different topics, extraordinary TV catechesis and exposure to the LIVE teaching of the Pope of the moment, the presence of great numbers in World Youth Days and at the Vatican, etc.) but FOR WHAT WE HAVE FAILED TO DO.
1) We have failed to recognize that the primary work we need to do and we have failed, is to call us not just to holiness as the Council did, but to convert ourselves, all of us, NOW AND EFFICIENTLY… The sainthood part is up to God… Our duty is to look for our own spiritual growth before we go and preach and teach… We need the Holy Spirit to truly take over our souls and then, have Him sent us to proclaim the Truth once we are ready. We cannot assume that we have all we need to share with others, especially the witness of our lives.
2) Yes, we have many programs leading us to conversion (again, via books and television and retreats) but with our plans and ideas all based in the Church’s teaching, yet not coming from hearts that are constantly saying “yes” to God’s will with eyes closed, embracing our crosses with the certitude that they are necessary for our own sanctification. Also, saying a “yes” to following Jesus and doing what He did and obeying all the commandments as we bear witness to Him!.
3) We do not call each other to a personal plan to follow the path of Our Lady and of the Saints in heaven. Of course, we may say so, but we do not show changes in our spiritual life that show this step in our re-formation, one that is not information or formation, but re-formation, since we already have been catechized well, or so I suppose if you are reading this blog.
4) Even worse: we run to pass on the teachings of Christ without inspecting the inside of our temples and looking for the sin of ambition, or what others may think of our work of evangelization! Do we ever ask ourselves if we are fit to work on the faith formation of others and ultimate reformation of their lives? Also, if pride is found, it must also be dealt with repentance and a serious effort to pray for our own conversion. But, of course, there are other things that we can do that could bring purification to our inner temple and more will be said later.
In other words, discipleship must be lived in our lives first and foremost, or we will fail to bring God to others. The work of “Mary”, Martha’s sister, must be restituted in our souls, that is to often be at His feet in order to be formed in how to take Jesus to others. Therefore, if we do not take care of our own inner temples, our success in changing other temples will be mediocre. And I dare to use such word because we see no fruits in restituting Catholics to come to Sunday Mass and not as a duty, but as a need in their hearts because they know Christ personally!
4. Once we fix our own inner temples or at least start a program of re-formation, THEN we can tell others about it in word and witness. But the good thing is that our own efforts to be reformed will make our faith grow. This will lead our love for God and neighbor to be a reality without too much effort. Of course, LOVE IS WHAT WILL SAVE ALL OF US. One thing that Jesus did for us was to SAVE US THROUGH HIS LOVE. I could spend hours citing the Bible as to how love works in personal and communal evangelization.
5. Evangelization via the Internet and TV is the fastest way to travel to the ends of the world, BUT even these messages must carry OUR LOVE for Christ through our personal relationship with Him and His Mom, who is the best model of a human being that must be followed.
Obviously, our love must be for our neighbor as well, and the easy way to keep track of our own conversion is when we pray the Our Father and say that I forgive others. It will be our thermostat of love of neighbor. Books, DVD’s, TV programs, blogs, all have value but small and of short duration. Of course, we have many converts coming to the Faith via these sources of communication, but we need thousands and millions of converts NOW… And only God can do it with our resolute conversion to love Him and our brothers and sisters NOW, as well.
6. And yes we have powerful friends in heaven that will give us help when it comes to the evil one. Rosaries, devotion to the Saints for own sanctification (not to change our crosses or will of God for us) and hanging around the Tabernacle united to our desire to be converted, can do it… And of course, if a priest speaks in a homily in a parish Mass about discipleship lived and not spoken about, and the need to become lovers of God and man, etc, many will agree and stop there with no further action. Many will not even hear it… Many of our fellow Catholics need us but reformed, and then we will have modern St. John Vianney’s and St. Pios’ and St. Therese and St. Teresa of Avila. It is sooo simple…
7. Yes, “LOVE” in all its forms is the shortest route to the Promised Land… So, here we have a puzzle… or the 64,000 dollar question of the 1950’s. WHAT ARE WE MISSING? What is the answer? How can we love God and neighbor at all times? This part will, for sure, make some of you a little upset… and please do not resent me. I am just a nobody who knows little theology and has been sent to write a few things, hoping to do it under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit. This is what I believe is wrong with all of us in the Church of 2013.
1) We presume that we love God and neighbor because many of us have dedicated our lives to serve God and neighbor in many ways. Or maybe I should write that we assume we love God and all people… Personally, I have found out that many times I do not love my brothers and sisters. I do not hate them but I resent them… and have not done much about these feelings. For at least the last 15 years, I have kept this list of people that I resent … and have not taken it at heart to place in the paten before the Consecration of every Mass I attend, in order to ask for God’s mercy for me in regards to stop all resentment…
2) I hear often how many say that they know Jesus and at times, they go even further and say that they have a personal relationship with Him.. But what is to know Jesus? What is a personal relationship with Him? Well, it is in the Bible and we had this for the Gospel of our Mass for Sept. 24!!!
Luke 8: 19-21 – The Mother of Jesus and His brothers came to Him but were unable to join Him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see You.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and My brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”
There you have it… He told us how to have a personal or family relationship with Him. So, now I am going to give you just one example of hearing the word of God and acting on it. This is part of the Gospel for Sept. 25.
Luke 9: 1-3. – Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey; neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic.”
For some of us who have been trying to follow Him at all cost, have we ever made plans for retirement? Well, it is obvious that JESUS WAS CALLING THE TWELVE TO HAVE FAITH that they would be provided for…! In my case, without me trying at all… so not to say that it was virtue on my part, I never could make plans for my old age… Never. Many financial advisers came to me to work with the tons of money I made, and I dispatched them nicely but they left not understanding an iota of why I was doing it. Again, it was not my plan. It was grace that came to me. Yet, in my old age I have enriched my sons because they have provided for me in awesome ways, and now they will be blessed many times more. So, the grace of living Luke 9:1-3, brought grace to my them…
3) So, I believe that what we are missing is to re-define what a personal relationship with Jesus the Christ is… Our ongoing conversion for all of us in the Church must be based on our total abandonment to His providence. Jesus wanted his followers to grow in faith like in the case of Abraham; so, He did send his disciples with orders not to take anything with them in order to provide for their needs or room and board and increase their trust in His mercy. He did not have much time left on earth. He was conducting a training camp for their growth in faith in His love. There would be a time when He would be killed and his followers needed to be “wired” to expect His love in every form… And if they did this, they would be sanctified to take the Good News of the Gospel and for the Holy Ghost to work in many hearts, and yes, they came back telling Him of their success. Do you see that all evangelization depends on this FAITH in God that He will provide and that God ultimately does the job of converting others?
4) We need to evangelize the whole world but catechesis and books and TV programs, many homilies, even the Sacraments, are not giving us a massive conversion of the world. In the other hand, we can do it if we start from the bottom and find out where each one of us is at. Let me give you an example: do I really write this blog with love for all readers? Well, no! I know that it will help some but am I truly in love with anyone who reads it? To be truthful, no… I have not been “wired” or trained to do it… and God is trying very hard through the writing of these blogs to convert me! Am I in love with Jesus? Absolutely… I am crazy about Him… I tell Him so, several times a day… and thank Him for my cross of illness. Yet, I am not equally crazy for my brothers and sisters! Ouch… Do I love my brothers and sisters whom I personally know as I love my boys and wives and grandkids? No… Can you see how dirty my inner temple is? I am starting to believe that my health crisis of exactly one month ago and now my cross of not being able to go to Mass nor receive Communion, have been a form of giving me more time to understand that I must grow in love of my neighbor.
Do I have to worry about it? Yes and no… Yes because it is my duty to obey the commandments or I will not even be a kid of my Mother. No because I know the Way, the Truth and the Life, and I only have to say “yes” to His will second by second out of love for Him and the Holy Spirit will give me all I need to become re-formed in the Spirit. Or I could not write any more blogs and pretend that I have a super relationship with Christ, since He is present in all His kids and when I ignore them in any form, I am ignoring Jesus, and therefore, my relationship is not quite real. And yes, I pray very much… and still it has not been sufficient to fix this problem. It is obvious that the “yes” to the will of God for me, and no matter how crazy it may look in human terms like going and preaching about His mercy when I have no formation and in the way He has told me, is KEY for me to grow in MORE FAITH AND LOVE… Then is when my relationship with Him will bring many to be converted, and not a few, but the thousands, because the times are screaming for us to act and defeat the evil and the world… and yes, we can do it…
5) Finally, it is obvious that I have to often take a peek at the state of my inner temple. As a Church, we should get together and teach and witness our transformation in loving God with a total dedication as Our Lady did, and loving our neighbor in the different ways that should be executed. We must work at what is missing in each of our inner temples and take away what is in the way to love others, again in it all its forms. Yes, I may serve the poor and turn around and resent our priest or the person who sits near me in my parish. We should catechize the entire Church that obedience to God’s commandments plus self denial, love for our crosses and doing what Jesus came to do 2000 years ago, are the ingredients to conquer the entire world and he loved even His enemies! And if we pray under such spiritual umbrella, our prayer would be heard immediately. If we serve, our service will go hand in hand with forgiving all those who have hurt us by grace and with little effort in our part. But we must study this subject matter according to what the Word teaches and START DOING IT TODAY if possible…
I leave you with the hymn of love in 1Corinthians 13.
“If I speak in human and angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or clashing cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge; if I have all the faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I AM NOTHING. If I give away everything I own, and if I hand my body over so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing
“Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, it is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endure all things.
“LOVE NEVER FAILS. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we knew partially and we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. WHEN I WAS A CHILD, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things. At present, we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully, as I am fully known. So faith, hope and love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE.
Note: I need your prayers. My left eye continues to be not so good. Now that I am allergic to all foods, I will be needing narcotics for a while and it means that I may have to quit daily Mass for some time since I do not want to drive under the “influence” added to poor vision in this eye. Also, the bills for my hospitalization have started to arrive. It does not look too bad but still, it may be a burden. If you remember me, please keep me in your prayers that the will of God may be done in all these areas and that I can submit to it with great joy.
